Halloween plans around the county told

Here’s the schedule for Halloween events in Greene County:

Thursday, Oct. 26

The annual Trick or Treat Around the Square is slated for Thursday, Oct. 26, in Jefferson.

The fun starts with a Halloween party from 3:45 to 5 pm at the Greene County Community Center. There will be games and prizes. Costumes are encouraged.

There is no charge, but parents are encouraged to register their children for the party by Oct. 23. Visit the Community Center at 204 W. Harrison St.

Spook the Loop, trick-or-treating at businesses around the square, will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Trick-or-treaters should go counterclockwise. Parents can use “Spook the Loop” #trickortreatonthesquare on social media.

Children will enjoy an interactive story skit of  “Bruce and the Legend of Soggy Hallow” from 5 to 6:30 pm at the Jefferson public library. Performances will start every 20 minutes in the basement meeting room, and there will be treats and games upstairs between shows. The skit will be performed by library staff and community volunteers.

Greene County Schools will host their fall concert on Thursday, Oct. 26, starting with the band at 6:30 pm presenting their Halloween performance. The 7-12 grade vocal portion will begin at 7 pm. The concerts will be held in the high achool Auditorium.

Jefferson Matters, the Jefferson park and recreation department, the Jefferson public library, businesses from around Greene County and Greene County Middle School students are collaborating on Trick or Treat Around the Square.

Friday, Oct. 27

On Friday, Oct. 27, the Churdan library will have lots of Halloween games, food, and fun from 5-6 pm. They ask that you please use the back door to begin the fun. The library’s events are sponsored in part from funds received through Communities 4 Children and Community Partnerships for Protecting Children neighborhood/Community Network Mini Grants

On Friday, October 27, the Paton-Churdan National Honor Society will have trunk-or-treat from 5-6 pm at the Community Room parking lot. They would like to encourage the community to join them by decorating a vehicle or something else and hand out treats to the kids.

The town of Churdan will have trick-or-treating from 5-7 pm. We hope this will give kids an opportunity to do trunk-or-treat, Churdan Library Halloween activities, and trick-or-treat. We would also like to remind motorists to be careful that night, because many little goblins are hard to see.
